Świdermajer style villa. Otwock

Świdermajer is a Polish architectural style that developed in the late 19th century and was still popular at the beginning of the 20th century. It originated in Mazovia along the railway connecting Warsaw with Otwock . The term is almost exclusively applied to villas in timber construction, which were mainly created for the middle class. The development of the architectural style is attributed to Michał Elwiro Andriolli , who combined traditional elements of regional Polish timber construction with stylistic elements of Swiss construction, traditional Russian wooden houses and traditional decorations of the Podhale regions.

The term Świdermajer is a play on words and connects Biedermeier with Świder . The latter is a river on which a number of villas in this style have been built.
