The Ξ b baryon ( English also Cascade b or Xi sub b ) is a baryon . It consists of a strange quark , a bottom quark and an up or down quark.

discovery

The extremely short-lived Ξ b - particles of about six times the proton enmasse in 2007 at Fermilab discovered. It is therefore the first detected elementary particle that consists of the quarks of all three generations, namely a down quark, a strange quark and a bottom quark.

The neutral Ξ b 0 particle was first observed in July 2011, also at the Fermilab.
