Ḫarištašši

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ḫarištašši was a Hittite household and family deity , presumably a goddess, as she is invoked by the Hittite queen while sitting on her bed in the bedroom.

In the cult of the goddess Ḫuwaššanna Ḫarištašši is called together with the goddesses of fate Gulšeš and the “ auspicious day ”; the latter is a euphemism for the day of death, so that there is a cultic connection between birth, fate and the day of death. In addition, Ḫarištašši is invoked together with the court god Ḫilašši .
