"Big Boy" Teddy Edwards (born before 1930 in Chicago ; died after 1936) was an American musician ( vocals , tiple , guitar ) and songwriter of the country blues .

Life

"Big Boy" Edwards, who came from Chicago and is little known about his other life, was one of the first tiple players in the blues to make recordings. For Bluebird Records and Vocalion he recorded a number of titles from 1930 to 1936, such as "Big Road Blues", "Hoodoo Blues", "Run Away Blues", "Them Things", "Family Troubles", "I Ain't." Gonna Give You None ”,“ Lovin 'Blues ”,“ Wild Woman Blues ”and“ Alcohol Mama ”, on which he accompanies himself on the Tiple. On other songs like "Louise", "I'm Gonna Tell My Mama On You" and "Who Did You Give My Barbecue To?" He was accompanied by a band, possibly Big Bill Broonzy , Papa Charlie Jackson and Black Bob. Edwards also worked as a singer on recordings of the Hokum Boys and Papa Charlie Jackson.
