-ur

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The final syllable -ur (mostly with words from Romance languages into German borrowed , for example, from French ending -ure , originally from Latin -ura ) serves Word formation grammatically feminine nouns to other nouns or verbs :

  • to other nouns in the sense
  • to verbs in the sense of a "result": to shave from shaving .

The ending can also occur in the “more French” phonetic form -ure : border , manicure .
