Lists on the subject |
The .260 Remington , also known as 6.5-08 A-Square , is a sport and hunting cartridge.
The .260 Remington was introduced and standardized by Remington Arms in 1997. This happened even though the company A-Square had the same cartridge standardized by SAAMI under the name 6.5-08 A-Square in 1996 . The designation .260 Remington was however able to establish itself.
The .260 Remington is derived from the .308 Winchester , with the case neck retracted to the 6.7 mm caliber. It was developed to compete with the 6.5 × 55 mm caliber , but is only slightly more powerful. The .260 Remington fits like its mother cartridge and in contrast to the 6.5 × 55 mm in so-called short systems ("short action", SA).
