history
The .264 Winchester Magnum is part of a family of high-performance Winchester Magnum cartridges started by Winchester in 1956, all of which are based on a similar belt case. The case is essentially that of the .375 Holland & Holland Magnum cartridge , which has been shortened to 64 mm.
