.50 eq

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The caliber .50 GI is a rare cartridge developed by Guncrafter Industries (USA).

development

The aim of the development was a large cartridge with a high man- stopping effect for a pistol based on the principle of the 1911 pistols, Browning system . The stopping effect of the .45 ACP caliber was to be significantly exceeded in order to clearly qualify the cartridge and weapons of this caliber for the tactical field. In contrast to the powerful 9 mm Parabellum as well as the .45 ACP and 10 mm Auto calibers, the .50 GI caliber should only have good properties such as stopping effect, combined with easier control of the weapon when firing, thanks to reduced pressure.

Performance and use

The .50 GI is, in contrast to z. B. for the 10 mm car, a cartridge with low internal pressure, which leads to less recoil and less penetration, but to an improved stopping effect. Other, more powerful cartridges in .50 caliber, such as B. the .50 AE , require heavier weapons. The area of use is in self-defense, police operations or hunting. Due to its high hit factor, this caliber is particularly suitable for sporty shooting with the practical pistol.
