100 United Nations Plaza Tower
100 United Nations Plaza Tower - sometimes simply 100 United Nations Plaza is a skyscraper in Manhattan . It bears its name after its postal address (100 United Nations Plaza, i.e. house number 100). One long side is adjacent to East 48th Street and, set back a little, to First Avenue. To the east of the building is a small square with a fountain.
This was completed in 1986, building exterior decorated in browns and blacks houses 267 apartments on 52 floors above ground (46,451.5 sqm and 500,000 square foot ) and 170 meters rises (557 feet) high. The design by the architect Der Scutt ( design architect ), carried out by the architects Schuman, Lichtenstein, Claman and Efron ( architects ), is noticeable on the one hand with its "triangular" tip, similar to a transverse pointed roof: the narrow sides of the building step onto the the top floors so that the length of the building decreases and offers space for 22 penthouse- style apartments , while the width does not change. The balconies that protrude at the corners and in the middle of the long sides of the building are also characteristic. Until the construction of the Trump World Tower , which stood between it and the UN headquarters (2001), the 100 United Nations Plaza Tower was one of the skyscrapers that dominated the skyline on the east bank of the East River.
