270th Infantry Division (Wehrmacht)

The 270th Infantry Division was a German infantry division during World War II . The division was on 22 May 1940 at Military District X installed. The formation of this division was planned in the event of a longer campaign in the west . Due to a quick end of the western campaign through the conclusion of an armistice with France , the formation of the division was canceled before its completion.

Again set up on in Northern Norway from the Tromsö Coastal Protection Association. On August 13, 1940, the unit was dissolved again.

On April 21, 1942, the 270th Infantry Division in northern Norway ( Tromso area ) was re-established. The division remained deployed in northern Norway until the German surrender in May 1945.
