The 280th Infantry Division was a major unit of the German Wehrmacht during World War II .
Division history
The deployment of a 280th ID as part of the 10th wave of deployment began in May / June 1940 and should be completed on July 1, 1940. Due to the rapid end of the western campaign , the installation was canceled.
The division was reorganized on April 22, 1942 in occupied Norway from the aforementioned Stavanger Coast Guard Association . The coastal protection association of Stavanger emerged on March 14, 1942 from the renaming of the Stavanger Fortress Command, which was set up in Wroclaw on February 21, 1942 . The division was subordinate to the LXX. Army Corps . The division itself was only subordinate to army troops until September 1943, when some fortress battalions were incorporated. No fighting became known until the end of the war.

In September 1943 the division was subordinate to the fortress battalions 655, 657 and 666. At the beginning of January 1945 the division was divided into the following units:
