Lineup wave

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The designation wave of deployment distinguishes the different types of divisions with different structures and weapons equipment within the army of the German Wehrmacht in World War II .

After the mobilization in 1939 it was not possible to structure and equip all divisions equally due to the changing personnel, material and training situation. The divisions of a constellation wave were set up (newly formed) in the same period and had the same structure and equipment. The decisive factor for this was the evidence of military strength on the personnel and the evidence of war equipment in the material sector. From 1944 onwards, divisions within a wave of formation were sometimes inconsistently structured.

Basically, a distinction can be made between infantry division (ID), security division (SD), grenadier division (GD), security brigades, field training divisions and shadow divisions.

Erection waves

From 1934 to 1945 a total of 35 installation waves were carried out. All divisions that were formed before the mobilization on August 26, 1939 belonged to the first wave of formation. The 35th wave of deployment called on the Wehrmacht High Command in March 1945.
