The early 18th century Baroque building is south of the city center between Irish Street and Whitesands above the Nith . The two-story building is seven axes wide. The east-facing facade facing Irish Street cannot be seen from the street due to a high wall. As the building is built into a slope, the basement underneath protrudes from the west facade. Unlike the layers masonry of brick that is painted along the facades, is the masonry of the basement of quarried stone .

The edges of the building are set off with rusticated corner stones in contrasting colors . The lattice windows are framed with profiled natural stone , some of which rest on pseudo consoles . The final architraves are made with keystone . There is a rusticated front door in the center. The west facade is similar to the east facade, but is more simply designed. Two curved staircases lead to the main entrance. The building closes with a slate-covered gable roof , which is supplemented by hips on the added outer axes .
