2K8 falanga

The anti-tank missile complex 2K8 Falanga ( Russian 2К8 "Фаланга" , NATO code name AT-2 Swatter ) is a Soviet anti-tank guided missile of the first generation.

history

The Falanga was developed by the Nudelmann development office (OKB-16) as the successor to the 2K15 Schmel . It had a greater range and a higher speed compared to this. In September 1964, the rocket was shown to Nikita Khrushchev for the first time . The serial production took over the Degtjarjowwerk in Kowrow . It was the USSR's first anti-tank guided missile that could also be used from helicopters. For this purpose, it was used in small numbers on the Mi-4AW and then on the Mi-8TW and Mi-24 . It was later replaced by the 9K113 bankruptcy and 9K114 Schturm .

The 2K8 Falanga anti-tank guided missile complex includes the launch vehicle based on the BRDM-1 with the GRAU index 2P32 and the 3M11 missile.
