3DEXCITE , until 2013 Realtime Technology AG , is a provider of software as well as consulting and creative services for industrial 3D visualization . The company deals with the implementation of computer-based visualization as part of the product life cycle in order to make digital CAD design data available across companies. Since the end of 2013 it has belonged to the French software company Dassault Systèmes , which uses CATIA to manufacture a widespread computer-aided design (CAD) system for the manufacturing industry.
Corporate development
3DEXCITE was founded in 1999 under the name Realtime Technology by the two board members Ludwig A. Fuchs and Christoph Karrasch in Munich. In August 2010 Roberto Schettler joined the board as a third member of the board. He previously accompanied RTT as a member of the Supervisory Board since 2006. Christoph Karrasch resigned from the Management Board on December 31, 2012. He was elected to the Supervisory Board at the 2013 Annual General Meeting at the end of June.
In the 2012 financial year, the company generated total sales of EUR 73.7 million (2011: EUR 55.0 million). According to the semi-annual report 01/2013, 3DEXCITE had a total of 754 employees at 15 locations worldwide as of June 30, 2013. The company has been admitted to the open market on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange since 2005. At the end of March 2012, RTT switched from the open market to the Entry Standard Frankfurt
On January 10, 2014, RTT was taken over by the French software company Dassault Systèmes . In the course of this, Realtime Technology AG was transferred to Dassault Systemes 3DEXCITE GmbH.
Business model
The visualization in real time is based on the CAD construction data from product development. All work steps in the product development process that previously required the production of models, prototypes and pre-series are covered on the 3D real-time model. This includes design reviews and comparisons, physical analyzes and the simulations of usage, assembly and repair situations. As soon as the product development is completed, the continuously updated 3D real-time model is used as a master model for measures in the marketing and sales strategy.

The 3DEXCITE offer is divided into the software (3DEXCITE Visualization Platform), Solutions and CGI ( Computer Generated Imagery ) divisions and covers the entire value chain . Thanks to its holistic approach of accompanying customers and their products over the entire product life cycle , 3DEXCITE takes on an innovative pioneering role in the field of 3D visualization. From design and development to the creation of marketing materials and individual sales solutions, 3DEXCITE offers all services from a single source.
In addition to representatives from the automotive , aerospace, defense and consumer goods sectors , customers also increasingly include fashion and sports.
- software
- The 3DEXCITE DeltaGen visualization software formed the core of the 3DEXCITE Visualization Platform. All other software modules support adjacent workflows through asset management, cloud-based real-time rendering, digital material design, reviewing and image creation options.
- Solutions
- The Solutions division focused on providing specific visualization solutions for development, design, marketing and sales. The aim is to map the entire process chain so that the digitized CAD data can be used throughout.
- CGI
- The term Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI) comes from 3D computer graphics and encompasses the computer-based generation of images for films, animations and simulations. 3DEXCITE added a creative department to its CGI area: Flavor3D. All marketing and sales activities are supported, from the conception and data preparation to the entire production (stills, films & animations) and the implementation of sales promotion measures (realtime interactive).

3DEXCITE's achievements in the areas of growth, creative services and innovation have regularly been recognized with awards such as the Red Dot Award, Automotive Brand Contest, iF Design Award, Bavaria's Best 50, Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Award or WorldMediaFestival.
