4hero are Dego McFarlane and Marc Mac, two musicians from London who have been among the pioneers of drum and bass in London with their joint releases since 1988 . The milestones of the two include the establishment of their own label Reinforced and the release of the albums Parallel Universe (1994), Two Pages (1998), Creating Patterns (2001) and Play With The Changes (2007). The 2004 remix album brings together some of her best remixes.

Her albums were released on Gilles Peterson's Talkin 'Loud label.

The two can look back on a large number of publications; many of them appeared under constantly changing pseudonyms such as Jacobs Optical Stairway , Tek 9 , Nu Era or Tom and Jerry . Her remixes, as well as works by other artists who commissioned her to reinterpret her pieces, are also widely recognized in the DJ scene.

While 4hero initially made a name for themselves with their rave tracks, in particular with the hit Mr Kirk's Nightmare , they promoted more innovative and more experimental tracks than other English drum and bass labels at the same time through publications on Reinforced. Goldie (as Rufige Kru), Doc Scott and Ray Keith are among the most famous artists who have released on reinforced records .

Typical for her later productions are cross-style influences from jazz , hip-hop , Detroit techno and the West London or broken beat scene, to which musicians like Daz-I-Kue , Kaidi Tatham , Seiji or Alex Attias belong and where they belong are also among the pioneers. They also recorded a big career boost for the spoken word singer Ursula Rucker , who was featured on the two successful albums Two Pages and Creating Patterns . "Parallel Universe" was added to The Wire's "100 Records That Set The World On Fire (While No One Was Listening)" wirelist .
