7ty Proof (spelling: 7TY PROOF) is a German rock band that was founded in 1996 in Kaiserslautern .

Beginnings

7ty Proof (pronounced “Seventy Proof”) was founded in 1996 by Andy Braun (Vox), Thomas Braun (guitar), Martin Knoth (guitar) and Christian Esche (guitar) in Kaiserslautern. Volker Disant (drums), Wolfgang Ruf (keys) and Charly Meyerhöfer (bass) later joined the band. The first public appearance took place in Clausen . The band's name is derived from a liquor bottle that says "60% PROOF". Because of the seven band members, the band name was then changed to 7TY PROOF.

Line-up change

Keyboardist Wolfgang Ruf left the band in 1998 and was replaced by Tino Schreck on the keyboard. After the band made a name for themselves in the regional music scene, the local press became aware of 7ty Proof. In 2000, the headline “Groupies fucking is not adultery” in the magazine “Feedback” led to the break with the band's drummer and bassist at the time. In the autumn of 2000, the drummer Olli Link temporarily took over the vacated drummer position until in January 2001 the drummer Christian "Chris" Strasser, who had previously played with bands like "Bad Attitude", and the bassist Horst Ludwik joined the band. In 2004 Horst Ludwik left the band and was replaced by bassist Jörg Dinkat. In 2006 Jörg Dinkat was replaced by Frank Hupprich on bass. In January 2008, keyboardist Tino Schreck left the band and was replaced by Marco Leonhard. In 2009 guitarist and founding member Thomas Braun left the band. After that, 7ty Proof will play as a quintet for the first time until 2014. With the departure of Frank Hupprich in January and the departure of founding member Christian Esche in April, 7ty Proof is faced with the decision to continue with new musicians or to stop. With Christian Zorn on bass, who was previously active in bands like "Billingsgate Reloaded" and "Beyond Darkness", and Hakan Yusufoglu on guitar, 7ty Proof finally re-formed in May 2014.

In December 2012, an interview about the “making of” a cover version of Last Christmas was broadcast on SWR .

After the anniversary tour in 2016, Hakan Yusufoglu and Marco Leonhardt left the band. The resulting gaps were filled by Frank Hemmer on keys and Rolf Krick on guitar.

Releases

To mark the 15th anniversary of the band, 7ty Proof released Wild at Heart , the first single they wrote. For this purpose, a music video was shot, which the band presented as part of their 15-year band anniversary in a cinema in Kaiserslautern, as well as at various appearances on TV. In December 2014 singer Andy Braun published his book Frontmann- Normale Höte . The background story relates to 7TY PROOF. As part of their 20th band existence, 7ty Proof will release the album Rock'n Roll will never die on November 26, 2016 . Here, too, a music video was shot for the song of the same name.
