There is a cottage at 87 Horogh , also 87 Horve , in Castlebay , the capital of the Scottish Hebridean island of Barra . In 1980 the building was added to the Scottish Monuments Lists in Category C.

description

The second half of the 19th century is assumed to be the construction period. The cottage is already listed on the first edition of the Ordnance Survey map from 1878. It is one of the rarely preserved properties of a typical island fishing cottage and is located near the coast off the A888, surrounded by modern houses. The windows of the one-story building are symmetrically arranged on three vertical axes. The entrance door is in the middle of the front facing north. The masonry consists of quarry stone , with the building edges being rounded. The building originally ended with a thatched roof . However, this has given way to a modern roof construction with roofing felt.
