883 was a successful Italian pop rock group founded by Max Pezzali and Mauro Repetto.

history

In the 1980s, school friends Max Pezzali and Mauro Repetto began writing songs about America and its success in a grammar school in Pavia . The first opportunity to show themselves publicly followed in 1989, when the two were allowed to appear in the program "1-2-3 Jovanotti" by the then aspiring Italian singer Jovanotti . Under the name "I Pop" they sang songs in English, musically mostly based on rap .

Some time later they worked with Claudio Cecchetto, changed their name from "I Pop" to "883" and started working on other songs. The new name referred to a motorcycle model from the Harley-Davidson brand , which was a passion of the two.

In 1994 Repetto left the formation because he wanted to try his luck in the film business. In 2003, Pezzali finally threw in the towel to begin a solo career. 883 dissolved.

In 1999 the band covered the piece Once in a Lifetime by the German synth-pop duo Wolfsheim for their album Grazie mille . The original English-language title became an Italian version with the title Almeno una volta .

Over the course of their careers, they released several albums and singles, some of which made it to the top of the charts.
