88 Greenwich Street , also known as Greenwich Club Residences , previously Building at 19 Rector Street , is a multi-section skyscraper in New York City . It was built in the years 1929/30 by the American architect Lafayette Goldstone in the contemporary Art Deco style .

With a height of 142 meters and 37 stories, the building occupies an entire block on the south side of Rector Street between Greenwich Street and Washington Street in the Financial District in western Manhattan . The facade is decorated with ornaments made of green, yellow, brown and beige terracotta stones.

Originally designed as an office building, it has been used as a residential complex since it was renovated in 2006. On May 5, 2002, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places .

In 2012, as a result of Hurricane Sandy, around 85,000 m 3 of salt water ran into the building, tearing an oil tank from its anchorage and causing a leak. The building was temporarily uninhabitable because of the leaking oil.
