89 Hit FM was founded as Hit FM by Peter Pelunka, who is considered one of the radio pioneers in Germany. The station was later renamed 89 HIT FM and broadcast from Monday to Saturday from Monday to Saturday on the Munich VHF frequency 89.0 MHz in a 6-hour alternating partial sharing with Radio 2Day from 1990 to 2000 . On Sundays, 89 broadcast HIT FM from midnight to 6 am and from 3 pm to 7 pm. From 12-15 pm Radio 2Day and Radio New Europe (now Radio Horeb ) from 6-12 am and from 19-24 hours.

Cooperation with Jam FM

In 1994, 89 Hit FM cooperated with Jam FM and took over their cable and satellite frequencies for a short time and was briefly received nationwide on cable. Due to discrepancies, however, the distribution via these transmission channels was discontinued after a short time.

End of terrestrial broadcast on VHF on November 30, 2000

In a media council meeting of the BLM in October 2000, the license was not extended beyond December 1, 2000 due to a negative economic forecast by the BLM and broadcasting on the FM frequency 89.0 MHz had to be discontinued.
