Aït ( Central Atlas Tamazight ⴰⵢⵜ ) is a Berber name affix with the meaning "people of" and refers to the descent from a certain male ancestor . For example, the name Ait ʿAtta (one of the largest Amazigh (Berber) groups in southern Morocco ) refers to a male ancestor of the same name called ʿAtta. The Arabic equivalent of this isبنو / Banū
