Aʻeau Peniamina is a matai and politician in Samoa .

Life

Aʻeau Peniamina comes from Falealupo on the island of Savaiʻi . In the Samoan general election, 1985 he was elected to parliament for the first time and took over the function of Speaker of the Assembly from 1988 to 1991, when he lost his parliamentary seat. He was also vice chairman of the Samoan Democratic United Party (SDUP).

In 2001 and 2006 he was re-elected for the Samoan Democratic United Party (SDUP). After the dissolution of the party, he was considered an independent parliamentarian. In 2005 there were allegations of racism based on comments made to the Chinese , which he later tempered.

From 2008 he was a member of the Tautua Samoa Party (Vaega Faaupufai le Tautua Samoa), which was founded in opposition to the ruling Human Rights Protection Party .
