А-222 "Bereg" is the name of a self-propelled gun for the coast guard from Soviet and Russian production, developed to combat small and medium-sized targets on the water. This includes warships and high-speed targets with up to 100 knots (at least 180 km / h) near the coast or on offshore islands in archipelago regions , but also targets on land. The target detection radius is up to 30 km and the combat radius up to 23 km.
history
The development of the self-propelled gun began in 1976 in the central design office "Titan", a subdivision of the military production company "Barrikade". In 1980 the technical documentation of the new 130 mm self-propelled gun A-222 "Bereg" was handed over for series production. In 1988 the first prototype was produced and it was carried straight to field tests.
description
A built-in computer is able to permanently correct the target acquisition of the self-propelled gun. The advantage of the A-222 system lies in the size of its caliber, universal use of ammunition and application to combat various targets at sea and on land, use in different climatic conditions with a completely autonomous mode of operation and a rate of up to 12 Rounds per minute.
An A-222 battery consists of four to six self-propelled guns (caliber 130 mm), a mobile central command post МР-195 with the central option of controlling the units and one or two special service vehicles with generators (each with two units of 30 kW), a small kitchen, other accessories and with 7.62 mm machine gun turrets. All vehicles are based on the MAZ-543 chassis with the 8 × 8 drive formula.
