Arthur John Newman Tremearne

Arthur John Newman Tremearne , better known under the acronym AJN Tremearne , (* 1877 in Melbourne ; † 1915 ) was a British major, ethnologist and Africa explorer. He wrote important ethnographic works on the inhabitants of northern Nigeria and the Hausa .

His work The Ban of the Bori is considered an ethnological classic . Demons and demon-dancing in West and North-Africa on the traditional Hausa cult of possession.
