The AAU CubeSat is a Danish amateur radio satellite .

Structure and Mission

The satellite was designed and built by students from Ålborg University Center . It is a Pico satellite in Cubesat format 1U, the smallest possible Cubesat design. The satellite was used to train students and operate a CMOS digital camera over amateur radio .

It was launched into a low earth orbit on June 30, 2003 with a Russian Rockot rocket as a secondary payload from the Plesetsk cosmodrome . Its COSPAR designation is 2003-031G.

The successor to the AAU CubeSat is the AAU-Cubesat 2 .
