The AK-107 is a Russian assault rifle with a caliber of 5.45 × 39 mm .
technology
The AK-107 is a variant of the AK-10x series. The difference to the smaller numbers of the AK-101 series is that the AK-107 and AK-108 are equipped with a counterweight that compensates for the recoil mass of the breech block and thus absorbs a large part of the recoil, making the weapon better at target when firing a second shot lies. The system is based on the AL-7 , an experimental weapon from the 1970s. The gas piston and bolt carrier on the one hand and the counterweight with the second gas piston on the other are equipped with longitudinal teeth similar to a toothed rack and connected to one another with a toothed wheel. When the projectile leaves the barrel, the powder gases act on both gas pistons, that of the bolt carrier is pushed back and that of the counterweight is pushed forward. The gear synchronizes the movement of both parts.
The rifle was mainly constructed from composite materials such as fiber reinforced plastics . The shaft of the weapon can be folded down and locked on the weapon. The magazine of the weapon is available in both plastic and metal. This conversion to other materials makes the weapon more cost-efficient, lighter, more solid, dimensionally stable and therefore more precise than the AK-74 .
The AK-107 has three fire modes: single fire , three-shot burst and continuous fire .
