Mikhail Iossifowitsch Dubson

Mikhail Iossifowitsch Dubson ( Russian Михаил Иосифович Дубсон ; born October 31, 1899 in Smolensk , † March 10, 1961 in Leningrad ) was a Soviet film director and screenwriter.

Dubson studied law at Moscow University ( MGU ) from 1916 to 1920 and worked full-time in the Soviet commercial agency in Berlin from 1925 to 1930. He also visited German film studios and directed two films in Germany in 1929: Two Brothers and Poison Gas , for which he was able to win over the Russian scriptwriter Natan Sarchi and the actress Vera Baranowskaja .

From 1930 Dubson worked as a director and screenwriter in the Soviet Union for film; first in the Meschrabpom studios, from 1933 at Lenfilm in Leningrad. His best-known works include The Border (1935) and Storm (1957).
