The SQS-56 (export designation: DE1160 ) was designed for use on frigates and can locate and track sea ​​mines , torpedoes and submarines . It has an MTI mode as well as active defense measures against torpedoes. Much of the system is based on COTS - hardware , could be reduced so that the cost of acquisition. The sonar itself can provide up to 36 independent transmit and receive channels, and the computer systems are designed in such a way that an additional tow sonar can be integrated with little effort.
