AN / AAR-54

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The AN / AAR-54 ( JETDS designation) is a missile warning system that is intended to warn the crew of helicopters and aircraft about enemy guided missiles . It is used by the US Corporation Northrop Grumman produces.

description

To detect incoming rockets, has the AAR-54 for up to six passive Wide - UV sensors, which detect the plume of missiles from all directions, track and identify. Furthermore, the system can pursue several targets at the same time and reliably suppress clutter . It can also provide target data for the AN / AAQ-24 System of Directed Countermeasures (DIRCM). The modular structure and the integrated self-test routines enable a high degree of reliability and low maintenance. The AAR-54 can be connected to the on-board avionics using the MIL-STD-1553 or RS-485 data link.

The system has been tested for effectiveness over 300 times using fire tests. Here came the air-to-air , ground-to-air and anti-tank missiles used. Among other things, QF-4 drones served as test targets .
