AOT40

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

AOT40 stands for A ccumulated O zone exposure over a t hreshold of 40 parts per trillion , cumulative ozone levels above the limit of 40 ppb ' . It is a dose measure for evaluating the ecotoxicological effects of ozone on vegetation. The value was introduced in 1992 at the UN ECE workshop in Egham (UN ECE 1992).

AOT40 is expressed in (µg / m³) · h. The value indicates the cumulative difference between the measured 1-hour mean value over 80 μg / m³ and 80 μg / m³ during a given period of time. Only measured values between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. during the growing season are used. Since 80 μg / m³ corresponds to 40 ppb, the value is called AOT40.
