The 28th APEC Summit ( Spanish: Cumbre de Líderes APEC Perú 2016 ) took place from November 19-20, 2016 in Peru , Lima . The host was Peru's President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski . The summit took place in Peru for the second time, the last time it was held there from November 22 to 23, 2008; At that time, the host of the summit, which was attended by 21 heads of state and government, was the former President of Peru, Ollanta Humala .

Topics and goals

At the summit, four key topics were discussed first, these were:

• Human capital
• Promotion of SMEs
• Food markets
• Economic integration

The APEC wants to create a common free trade zone and strengthen trade among its members by removing tariffs and other barriers.
