ASEAN Investment Area
ASEAN Investment Area (AIA) is an agreement between member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to promote mutual direct investment.
As well as the ASEAN Free Trade Zone is one of the agreements, an ASEAN Economic Community ( ASEAN Economic Community to set up).
The contract was signed on October 7, 1998 in Makati by Brunei , Indonesia , Laos , Malaysia , Myanmar , Philippines , Singapore , Thailand and Vietnam . Cambodia later joined the treaty. On September 14, 2001, an additional agreement for the ASEAN Investment Area was signed in Hanoi .
