The ASG Vorwärts Schwerin was a German army sports association from Schwerin , whose football department existed from 1951 to 1968.

Football section

Vorwärts Schwerin was founded in 1951 under the name SV Vorwärts of the KVP Schwerin . The team appeared for the first time in 1955 in the fourth-class district league Schwerin in appearance, in which Vorwärts initially only reached lower places in the table. In 1956, the SV KVP merged with parts of the local rival unit Schwerin to form ASG Vorwärts Schwerin .

At the end of the fifties, the sports community won a total of two runner-up championships in the Schwerin district . In the 1961/62 season, together with Vorwärts Rostock and Vorwärts Eggesin-Karpin, they were promoted to the third-class II GDR league . In their only third division season, the Mecklenburgers reached a respectable ninth place, but had to relegate to the district area again due to the dissolution of the 2nd GDR league. The district league held Vorwärts continuously until 1968. Analogous to other clubs supported by the NVA , Vorwärts Schwerin was also dissolved by the superordinate army sports association Vorwärts in the 1967/68 season and withdrawn from gaming.
