The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) is a professional association for all those involved in heating , cooling , ventilation and air conditioning in the USA . The association is based in Atlanta , GA.

It was founded in 1894 as the American Society of Heating and Ventilating Engineers (ASHVE), and in 1954 it changed its name to the American Society of Heating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHAE). The organization got its current name in 1959 through the merger with the American Society of Refrigerating Engineers (ASRE).

The ASHRAE manual is a four-volume reference work on air conditioning . One volume is reissued every year. ASHRAE also publishes standards and guidelines in the field of air conditioning, which are referred to in building regulations.

Monthly is magazine ASHRAE Journal published.
