The ASV Geel (officially Allemaal seeds Verbroedering Geel ) is a Belgian football club from the Flemish town of Geel in the province of Antwerp .
The club was created in 1966 through the merger of the clubs KFC Meerhout Sport (founded in 1927, registration number 893) and Hand in Hand Weversberg-Meerhout (founded in 1934, registration number 2169) as FC Verbroedering Meerhout and was originally located in the eponymous municipality of Meerhout . FC Verbroedering Meerhout has played in the fourth-rate promotion for most of its time since its inception , with a ten-year break (1987 to 1997) spent in the provincial leagues and one season in the third division (2006/07).
After the KFC Verbroedering Geel was dissolved in the summer of 2008 due to insolvency, its former board members joined the FC Verbroedering Meerhout. A merger of the two clubs had previously been discussed. Thereupon the name FC Verbroedering Geel-Meerhout was adopted , moved to Geel in the De Leunen stadium , where the disbanded club had previously played, and took over its club colors blue and white (previously black and white). Since then, FC Verbroedering Geel-Meerhout has been the unofficial successor club to KFC Verbroedering Geel.
In 2010 Geel-Meerhout rose to the third division as champion of season C of the promotion, followed three years later by promotion to the second division via the relegation play-offs. For the 2013/14 season they were called ASV Geel .
