AUF Gelsenkirchen is a group of voters from Gelsenkirchen in North Rhine-Westphalia . The abbreviation stands for alternative, independent, progressive . It describes itself as a non-partisan personal electoral alliance , but serves as an election platform for members of the Marxist-Leninist Party of Germany . It was founded before the local elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 1999 .

Cooperation with other parties

The group of voters belongs to the strategy of the Marxist-Leninist Party of Germany to intensify its local political activities. The group of voters won two seats in the city council in the 1999 and 2004 local elections. Monika Gärtner-Engel, wife of Stefan Engel, had one of them and, like him, was a member of the central committee of the MLPD.

The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution classifies the MLPD as left-wing extremist and Maoist - Stalinist . It is based in Gelsenkirchen.

In the council of the city of Gelsenkirchen the group of voters formed a parliamentary group with Die Linke.PDS , also 2 members. The faction was dissolved three months before the local elections on June 30, 2009. In 2009 the group lost one of its two mandates.
