The AVRO Studios in Hilversum are two former AVRO studio buildings that have been designated as Rijksmonument . The studios were built between 1934 and 1940 according to plans by the architects Ben Merkelbach and Charles Karsten in the style of New Building . The Grand Prix Eurovision de la Chanson 1958 took place in the large hall, Studio 2 . The smaller studio 1 is located below studio 2, separated by Melkpad street . Both studios are connected by an underground tunnel.

The television production company blue circle , the Dutch subsidiary of the FremantleMedia media company , has resided in the buildings since the 1990s .

In 2002 the two studio complexes were named Rijksmonumenten (No. 522700 and No. 522701) because they are “functional buildings with an expressionist design” and “are exemplary for their construction period”.
