The AWP financial news AG (formerly AG for Economic publications ) is a Swiss news agency for business and financial news. She creates reports on companies, markets, financial analyzes, macroeconomics and politics from home and abroad.
history
AWP was founded in 1957 by Murten radio journalist Walter von Känel in Bern and operated jointly by the Swiss Depeschenagentur (sda, now Keystone-SDA ), the German Press Agency (dpa) and Thomson Reuters . After the death of Walter von Känel, Hansjürg Saager took over the news agency in 1972. It is owned 50% each by Keystone-SDA and dpa.
In 1974, AWP began creating real-time financial news for Telekurs . The messages were first transmitted via telex , later using the first computer.
Corporate purpose
AWP produces over 1,000 messages a day with over 30 employees in German, French and Italian on companies, markets, financial analysis, macroeconomics and politics from home and abroad. The news is published on fee-based financial information systems such as Bloomberg , Factset, SIX Financial Information , Thomson Reuters and vwd .

AWP Premium comprises the real-time news service for professional and institutional market participants.
AWP Basic is a news service specially produced for Internet sites, e-banking and mobile solutions. These can be read freely on the AWP website. In addition, various internet platforms and web portals use the awp online news as content.
In addition, AWP Video produces daily video interviews on topics from the economy and the financial market. Above all, AWP Video interviews executives from SMI and SPI companies and asks analysts and market experts about specific economic topics or markets in general. Some of them are published on YouTube.
Together with the Swiss Dispatch Agency (sda), AWP founded the SDA / AWP Multimedia joint venture in 2012 . The subsidiary is a unit specializing in corporate publishing that produces multimedia content for all channels.
Since May 2018, AWP has also been responsible for economic reporting for the national news agency Keystone-SDA. In the course of a reorganization, Keystone-SDA closed its business editorial office and outsourced business reporting to the financial news agency AWP. The messages reach customers in the same channel and format as they do today. On working days, AWP delivers reports on micro- and macro-economic topics from 6.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. A selection of the most important economic reports is linked with images and is therefore suitable for online portals.
