A Boy and His Blob (full title: David Crane's A Boy and His Blob: Trouble on Blobolonia ) is a video game released in 1989 for the Nintendo Entertainment System . The game was developed by David Crane in his studio Absolute Entertainment . The game was co-written by Garry Kitchen . In 1990 the successor from the same developer followed.
Gameplay
It concerns with A Boy and his Blob is a platform game in which a little boy and his friend Blobert, a movable rubber mold, the earth and Bloberts home planet Blobolonia travel to the counterparts of the blob from a tyrant to liberate.
The player controls the boy from a two-dimensional side view. The blob follows the boy on command. Since the character can only run and climb ladders, he has to rely on the blob, for example, to overcome obstacles in the way. He achieves this by giving different types of candy to the blob for consumption, whereupon it is transformed into a certain shape. For example, one strain can turn the blob into a ladder, while honey candy can turn it into a whirring bird. Under these conditions, the player navigates the duo through the levels to avoid enemies and collect treasures, while on the way to secure the supply of candy.

1990 appeared The Rescue of Princess Blobette (full name: David Crane's A Boy and his Blob in ... The Rescue of Princess Blobette ) for the Game Boy . In terms of play, it is identical to its predecessor, the framework story is a mission to free a princess. Other parts have also been announced, such as Jelly's Cosmic Adventure for the Game Boy Advance and A Boy and His Blob (without subtitles) for the Nintendo DS . Both games did not get beyond the planning stage and have apparently been discontinued. On November 6, 2009, a Nintendo Wii offshoot called A Boy and his Blob appeared in Europe . It was developed by WayForward. This offshoot from 2009 was also re-released on January 20, 2016 for PC and Xbox One .
