Aachen Institute for Advanced Study in Computational Engineering Science

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Aachen Institute for Advanced Study in Computational Engineering Science (German: Aachen Institute for Advanced Studies in Computer-Aided Engineering, abbr .: AICES ) is an institution of RWTH Aachen , which was founded in 2006 as part of the German government's excellence initiative . AICES is supported by 15 institutes from 4 specialist groups at RWTH Aachen University. The Jülich Research Center and the Max Planck Institute for Iron Research in Düsseldorf are also involved. The aim is to provide interdisciplinary training for doctoral students at the interfaces between mathematics, computer science and engineering.

The AICES graduate school aims to improve method-oriented doctoral training and thus expands the Bachelor and Master programs in Computational Engineering Science offered by RWTH Aachen with a doctoral program. Intensive supervision and a direct connection between the doctoral qualification phase and the doctoral phase are intended to reduce the duration of the doctorate. The scientific focus is on the analysis and synthesis of technical systems that come from a wide range of applications.

The AICES maintains close contact with industry and other research institutions, such as the German Research School for Simulation Sciences or the Massachusetts Institute of Technology . Regularly organized workshops are intended to promote international cooperation and scientific exchange.
