from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Abū l-ʿAbbās al-Laukarī († after 1109 , maybe 1123 ) was an Islamic philosopher and poet.

Al-Laukarī came from Laukar near Merw . He was the second generation student of Avicenna . He published a comprehensive compendium of logic, science and metaphysics called Bayān al-ḥaqq bi-ḍamān aṣ-sidq (" Statement of Truth with Guarantee of Sincerity"), which was based on Aristotle and Avicenna and presumably against al-Ġazālī , at least directed against the Ašʿarītes - al-Laukarī was probably the last author of the eastern Islamic world to claim the eternity of the world. Al-Laukarī spread the philosophy in his home region Thurāsān and had a large number of students. Besides his bayan , some of his poems are common.
