Abartos

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Abartos ( Greek  ᾌβαρτος ) is a person from Greek mythology .

Abartos was a descendant of the legendary, according to later tradition, the last king of Attica, Kodros . He was fetched from the cities of Erythrai and Teos by the Phocaeans, together with two other descendants of Kodros, Deoites and Periklos , because the Ionians only intended to accept the city of Phocaia as a member of their covenant if it was ruled by members of the Kodrid family. This mythical version was intended to underline the dominant role that Athens played in the settlement of the western Asia Minor Ionia landscape .
