Abbas al-Jarari

Abbas al-Jarari ( Arabic عباس الجراري, DMG ʿAbbās al-Ǧarārī ; also Abbas Al-Jarari and Abbès Jirari ; * February 15, 1937 in Rabat ) is a Moroccan intellectual . He is an advisor to the King of Morocco.

Life

Abbas is the son of the scholar and writer Abdallah al-Jarari (1905-1983). He studied Arabic language and literature at Cairo University in Egypt and worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the 1960s. He is currently a professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in Rabat.

He was one of the 138 signatories of the open letter A Common Word Between Us and You , which Islamic figures sent in 2007 to "leaders of Christian churches everywhere".

He is married and has three children.
