Andrew begins a desperate search because he doesn't think Abby is dead. He eventually finds her with the Aborigines , and the two return to Yulara. But as soon as they arrive, they have to part again: Andrew's father was shot for "rebellion" against the corrupt authorities, and Andrew's brother Melvin is wanted as a politically involved. She and Andrew decide to join a settler hunt with their son Jonathan and leave the colony. Cleo swears vengeance and follows Abby's heels with a troop of soldiers. When the settlers finally find a suitable place for their settlement ( Frangipani Valley ) after many hardships and adventures , they are tracked down by the soldiers. Abby and Andrew are chained and brought back to Sydney. Melvin is already waiting for them there - he has finally managed to overthrow the corrupt government with the help of the British crown. The newly appointed governor is ready to approve the illegal settler trek retrospectively, if the settlers admit to their injustice in a petition. Abby's arch enemy Cleo manages to leak a fake petition to the governor and so the settlers are expelled from the Frangipani Valley . Abby and Andrew's farm is assigned to two of the former members of the corrupt government they hate, Danesfield and Grenville, of all people. Arguments break out in which Abby falls and as a result loses her second child. In a rage, Andrew rushed unarmed at Danesfield, who had caused Abby's fall, who accidentally shot himself in the scramble.
