Abdel Malik Mansour

Abdel Malik Mansour (* 1952 in Sanaa Governorate ) is a Yemeni politician and diplomat . He is currently the representative of his country in the Arab League until 2011 .

Life

Mansour studied "Islamic Law" at the University of Sanaa.

In 1982 he was first elected to the permanent committee of the General People's Congress (GPC). In 1990 he was re-elected. Since 1990 he sat in the Politburo as chairman of the organizing committee. In 1993 he changed his position in the Politburo and took over the chairmanship of the political area and external relations. In 1995 he was elected Deputy General Secretary of the GPC.

From 1997 to 2001 he was Yemen's Minister of Culture and Tourism.

Mansour has and has held numerous other public functions, including State Secretary of the Council for University Institutes, Deputy Minister for Endowment and Guidance, Chairman of the Court of Auditors, Member of the Academic Council on Islamic Jurisprudence, Member of the Leadership of Sanaa University, Advisor to the National Convention Institute.

He also teaches art at the University of Sanaa, writes for various daily newspapers and published several books.
