Abd al-Ilah al-Bashir

Brigadier General Abd al-Ilah al-Bashir an-Nuʿaimi ( Arabic عبد الإله البشير النعيمي, DMG ʿAbd al-Ilāh al-Bašīr an-Nuʿaimī ) is the Chief of Staff of the Supreme Military Council of the Free Syrian Army . With his appointment on February 16, 2014, An-Nuʿaimi replaced the previous FSA leader Selim Idriss .

Abd al-Ilah al-Bashir comes from the great Arab an-Nuʿaim tribe, which has members throughout the Middle East . Before the Syrian Civil War , al-Bashir served as a career officer in the Syrian Army , where he was Brigadier General under al-Assad .

He deserted on July 13, 2013, along with several other officers of the tribe such as Saleh al-Bashir an-Nuʿaimi from the Syrian army . He was later appointed head of the Quneitra FSA Military Council.

Al-Bashir an-Nuʿaimi also met with Iranian opposition groups such as the People's Mujahedin and expressed support for the overthrow of the Iranian government and the end of the legal scholarship .
