Abdelmajid Bourebbou ( Arabic عبد المجيد بوربو; * March 16, 1951 in Arris , Algeria ) is a former Algerian football player who spent his entire career with French clubs, but played internationally for his home country.
Club career
Bourrebou grew up in Algeria, but spent his later youth after the independence of his home country in 1962 in Normandy in northern France . There he began his career at US Quevilly when he was accepted into the second division team in 1970 at the age of 19. However, he did not come in the following two years more than five missions, so he turned his back on Quevilly and found another employer in the second division in the neighboring club FC Rouen . At Rouen, he made the leap into the starting line-up straight away and scored 15 goals in all competitions. Afterwards it was first injuries and then the additions Armando Bianchi and Daniel Horlaville that pushed the Algerian out of this position again. Then it was the German player Erich Maas who blocked his progress, although he scored a relatively large number of goals in his few appearances.
During the 1976/77 season Bourebbou managed to return to the first team and also scored 17 goals with which he was promoted to the top French division at the end of the season. Although he kept his role as a regular player following the rise, but he could not contribute more than four goals this season and so not prevent relegation as bottom of the table.
Despite everything, the player remained in the premier league when he found a new employer at Stade Laval in 1978 . With the team he entered the relegation battle, but was again set as a regular player, even if he could not continue his successes in front of the goal from the second division. After two seasons as a regular player, in which he had scored six times each, he was demoted to the Joker in 1980. He kept this role until he ended his career in 1983 at the age of 32 after 126 first division games with 20 goals and 108 second division games with 48 goals. He later returned to Algeria.
National team
At a time when he was a substitute for Laval and the end of his career was already on the horizon, Bourebbou was called up to the Algerian national team in 1982 to make his debut in a 1-1 draw against Peru on April 25 at the age of 31. A little later he was considered for the 1982 World Cup . In the course of the tournament he ran in the last group game against Chile, where he was substituted in the 31st minute; the game was due to the shame of Gijón at the same time the last tournament game of the Algerians. For Bourebbou it was the last of three official internationals in which he did not score. There are also seven unofficial games against club teams.
