Abdelmajid Dolmy

Abdelmajid Dolmy ( Arabic عبد المجيد الظلمي, DMG ʿAbd al-Maǧīd aẓ-Ẓulmī ; * April 19, 1953 in Casablanca ; † July 27, 2017 ) was a Moroccan football player .

Athletic career

Dolmy initially joined the U-20 youth team of Raja Casablanca in 1971 , but soon moved up to the club's competition team. There became the playmaker, who through his dribbling , his positional play and his accurate passes bribed quickly became regulars and recommended for the Moroccan national team . During his stay with Raja, which lasted until 1987, he won the Moroccan Cup three times . With the national team he was meanwhile more successful, with the selection he won the African Championship in 1976 and was third in the competitions in 1980 and 1986 . He was also a member of the team that won the group at the 1986 World Cup ahead of England , Poland and Portugal and only failed in the round of 16 against future finalists Germany after a 1-0 defeat by Lothar Matthäus a few minutes before the final whistle. Two years earlier he was part of the squad at the 1984 Olympic Games , in which the team, however, failed in the group stage of football .

From 1987 onwards, Dolmy ended his career at CLAS Casablanca . In 1990 he returned to Raja Casablanca for a season. In 1992 UNESCO recognized him for his fair play , and in his almost 20-year career, in particular, he had not been sent off.
