Abdul Rahim Wardak (* 1940 in Wardak ) is an Afghan politician and former general .

Life

Wardak studied at US military schools and in Egypt . He joined the army in Afghanistan and became an officer .

Wardak became Deputy Minister of Defense under Mohammed Fahim . On December 23, 2004, President Hamid Karzai appointed him the new Minister of Defense . After a vote of confidence that had been lost in the Afghan parliament, Wardak and Interior Minister Bismillah Khan Mohammadi announced their resignation from the ministerial office in early August 2012.
